Q: What happens if it rains?
A: We get wet. haha. No, seriously, Unless there's a tropical storm or Hurricane, we go rain or shine. However, if violent thunderstorms are threatening the well being of everyone, the tour may be rescheduled.
Q: Are these all walking tours?
A: Yes. The French Quarter is 6x12 blocks. We walk everywhere here, mostly because we find it quicker and easier than driving. Please wear comfortable shoes.
Q: Where should I park?
A: While there is residential (free) parking available through the Quarter, the parking is only good for 2 hours. And this city is impound-happy. We highly recommend locating a pay parking lot where your valuables will be relatively secure. $20 is cheaper than the $230 impound fee. If you insist on parking on the streets in the quarter, please read all signs regarding parking.
Q: Are we going to see ghosts?
Darling, if I could promise you that, I wouldn't have to build my own website. I'd have people who had people to do that stuff for me, while I sat on my private island sipping pina coladas under an umbrella. :) We certainly HOPE you do, but we can't make promises we can't keep ...although people DO get paranormal activity on their cameras pretty regularly.
Q: What is an appropriate tip for my guide?
Tour guide tipping is always a delicate subject. Going on a 2 hour tour isn't quite the same as eating at Denny's or having drinks at the bar. One requires infinite more energy and preparation than the other. Keep in mind that your guide has studied for months, even years, working out the perfect timing of his or her stories, the details, the right flair. It's entirely up to YOU what, if anything, you feel you should tip your guides. I polled 100 guides before putting this tidbit up and they said to tip them 20 bucks a head. haha. No, seriously, they said that. We know they were joking. While $20 is a FABULOUS tip, on average, in my experience.... there is no average. So I don't have an answer for you, but I want to you know I considered it really, really hard and so here we are. It's entirely up to you.
Q: Does Dark Crescent Tours ever CLOSE?
Yes. We are, In Fact, Closed all day on Thanksgiving, Christmas and Mardi Gras day. If you wish to take a tour on any of those days, we will be glad to refer you to a reputable Tour company which operates on those holidays. ( Although I'm not sure ANYONE does tours Mardi Gras day...). We believe in family and some days should just be spent with family. We'd close Easter, too, but there's one HECK of a FABULOUS parade on Easter Sunday... we can't miss THAT!
Q: Does Dark Crescent Tours offer Group discounts or private tours?
A: Yes, we do. We offer group discounts on groups of 10 or more. We also offer private tours, minimum of 10, maximum of 7 billion. Ok, that might be an exaggeration, but we CAN handle large groups. Please call our tour line for group rates: 504-405-4402
